CNA Training Programs – Overview
Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) provide specialist patient care specialist for all the basic needs of a patient in both hospitals and long term care environments. They also provide critical support for registered nurses as part of their role in the health care industry.
These days, many CNAs also provide home health care to patients who require assistance within their own homes. This allows them to be more mobile in the areas that they can choose to work.
CNA Training Programs Requirements
As there are so many CNA training programs available it is important to first of all understand what the requirements are for becoming a certified nursing assistant.
CNA training programs differ from state to state, as do the duties and responsibilities vary from one health care facility to another, many of the fundamental skills that make-up the core of every CNA’s knowledge base remains the same.
Basic care skills such as grooming and bathing patients, checking vital signs, assisting the usage of a variety of medical equipment, as well as assistance with feeding patients are all basic elements of CNA training.
While helping to lift, turn or move patients safely to and from their beds, to helping patients use the bathroom are all critical elements of CNA training programs there are many other important care skills that are required to learn.

Those that are interested in CNA training programs have a variety of options to consider, ranging from online courses to community college or hospital training. If you learn better in a hands-on environment then either campus or hospital training would work best for you.
However, if you are working full-time or just looking to make a career change and are pressed for time or simply prefer to learn via an online environment, then their are online courses that will probably be more attractive to you.
Regardless of whether you receive CNA training instruction online or in a face-to-face environment they will both provide you with the necessary state certification test required to become a certified nursing assistant.
The other consideration when it comes to the type of training you want to receive are the costs involved. Both online and campus based training are typically fee-based, whereas some hospitals and institutions offer free CNA training programs for interested people.
In some case the free training is obligation free and once your certification is completed you can work anywhere you like. However, some institutions will require that you commit to working with them for a specific amount of time as part of the exchange for your free training.
